The CFTC settled charges that George Santos manipulated a Kalshi market on his own State-of-the-Union attendance, resting the action on a finding that the event contract is a swap subject to the Commodity Exchange Act. Santos consented without admitting the findings.

On 29 July OFAC designated Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company and HormuzSafe Marine Services Authority under E.O. 13902 for operating in the financial sector of the Iranian economy. Treasury states that Hormuz Safe accepts payment in Bitcoin and other digital assets as part of the regime’s attempts to bypass Western sanctions — a state-established body collecting a transit fee on a crypto rail.
